Nightdive Studios Was Apparently “Close” To Reviving GoldenEye 007

Image: Nintendo LifeRare's iconic first-person shooter GoldenEye 007 was thought to be stuck in licensing hell, but after ongoing rumours and last week's Nintendo Direct, it was officially announced for the Switch Online N64 service. It's coming to Xbox Game Pass and Rare Replay with some minor enhancements, too. Sure, it might not be the axed remaster that leaked last year, however, it's better than nothing. We can't help but wonder though what might have happened if Nightdive Studios (Shadow Man, PowerSlave) had been given the right to revive this classic instead of Rare. According to the studio's CEO Stephen Kick, Nightdive apparently came incredibly close to securing the re-release. Here's what he had to say: "We @NightdiveStudio came *this* close to doing this, but ultimately I'm...

Tactics Ogre Art Book Sketches An English Release For May 2023

Image: Square EnixFollowing on from Square Enix's official announcement that Tactics Ogre: Reborn will be coming to the Switch on November 11th, we have been doing everything that we can to get ourselves back in the world of the Super Famicom classic. Of course, this did not come as much of a surprise to us (thanks to a PS Deals leak spoiling the release a few weeks ago), but what has surprised us is the news that an English edition of the game's art book, The Art of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, will be coming on May 2nd next year. As reported by Nintendo Everything, the 200-page book details all of the amazing art that went into the previous PSP game, combining initial sketches with fully-fledged character art, background designs, tarot card mock-ups and much more. Check out s...

Outer Wilds On Switch “Is Still Happening”

In today's Annapurna Interactive Showcase, the developers of the gorgeous, stupidly incredible Outer Wilds said that the game is still coming to Switch. "You did not collectively hallucinate our announcement of Outer Wilds for the Nintendo Switch," said Mobius' spokesperson in the showcase. "It's possible that we were a bit over-optimistic on the time frame. At this point, it's possible that we just fundamentally misunderstand the Gregorian calendar." Still, no exact update — although they also simultaneously announced an Xbox Series S|X and PS5 launch for the game on September 15th (in 60FPS, no less!), so here's hoping us Switch players don't get completely left behind. Outer Wilds was first announced for the Nintendo Switch in February 2021 in a Nintendo Direct, for a Summer 2021 re...

Xbox Remaster ‘Toy Soldiers HD’ Delayed For The Third Time On Switch

Toy Soldiers HD, an upcoming remaster of the Xbox Live Arcade game, just can't seem to catch a break. After being announced in May 2021 for an August 2021 release, the game was delayed until October of the same year owing to leaderboard issues. The developers said at the time that they were "absolutely positive" that they would release all versions on October 21st, 2021, which was true for all versions except the Switch. Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch release was pushed back, and it wasn't until July 2022 that the developers felt confident enough to pin down an exact release date: August 5th, 2022. "We share your frustration. We pushed ourselves to achieve a simultaneous release. We believed we could do it."- Accelerate Games, following the Switch delay announcement in October 202...
