Classic Jurassic Park Scene Recreated In PlayStation Game

The video you’re about to watch was built in Dreams, which is a video game but also some kind of mystical toolset that allows you to make anything. You may have seen many, often confusing Dreams videos if you spend long enough on forums or Twitter. I say confusing because the game is so flexible, and powerful, that many of its best creations start looking almost identical to the things they’re trying to recreate or pay homage to.I wrote about a Sonic the Hedgehog game last year, for example, that...looked just like something Sega would have released 5-10 years ago. Jack Yarwood’s excellent feature on the game for us in 2020 contained a bunch of other excellent examples as well, from static images (like the one below) to game homages.Screenshot: Martin NebelongThe video I want to talk abo...

Former PlayStation Exclusive Hohokum Comes To The PC On Steam

Screenshot: HohokumWhile a big deal has been made about some former PlayStation exclusives coming to the PC—like Horizon and God of War—no deal was made last week whatsoever about a game with a much lower profile, but which I love regardless. That game is Hohokum, which was first released on the PlayStation 4 (and PS3, and Vita) in 2014, and which remains one of most chill video game experiences available. A collaborative work between artist Richard Hogg, developers Honeyslug and the record label Ghostly, Hohokum is a beautiful 2D adventure where you play as a worm...kite...thing that just floats around its various levels, poking around a colourful landscape just to see what happens.HOHOKUM | Now Available On SteamIt’s magic. I love this game so much that amidst all the hardware drama an...

9 Games Making Nintendo Switch A JRPG Juggernaut In 2022

If I had bet on Square Enix reviving one one of its dormant B-tier franchises, it wouldn’t have been Valkyrie. I loved Valkyrie Profile on the original PlayStation and…that was about it. There was a mess of a sequel, an uneven tactics spin-off on the 3DS, and an underwhelming collectathon on mobile. Then in a March State of Play, Square revealed Valkyrie Elysium, a real-time action follow-up. I still can’t quite wrap my head around why, but anytime the publisher starts throwing the kitchen sink at the wall I’m here for it. Elysium looks visually unspectacular, but the deluxe version on console comes with the PSP remaster of the original game and that’s worth it for me alone.Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PCRelease Date: September 29, 2022 (PS4, PS5) / November 11, 2022 (...
