It’s everybody else at Citizens Bank Park who lost their flippin’ minds. Harper ripped a two-run home run to right field in the first inning Tuesday night in a 7-0 victory over the Astros in Game 3 of the World Series. Harper’s blast kick-started a five-homer barrage, tying a record for the most homers in a World Series game. It ratcheted up another raucous night at the Bank, which has been absolutely electric since this unexpected and wildly fun postseason run began. “Just walking into the ballpark, just being back home, I think is such a momentum swing for us,” Harper said. “This whole city is so excited to be in this moment and we're just thrilled to be able to play in front of them.” Phillies fans had imagined what their first home World Series game since 2009 might be like ever sin...

Dodgers vs. Padres NLDS Game 3 starting lineups and pitching matchup

LOS ANGELES -- With the Padres set to host a postseason game in front of their fans for the first time since 2006, Petco Park was always going to be rocking for Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the rival Dodgers. But with the Padres’ thrilling back-and-forth 5-3 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 to tie up the series on Wednesday, the atmosphere should be absolutely electric on Friday. Lefty Blake Snell gets the start for San Diego, while the Dodgers are turning to right-hander Tony Gonsolin. The Padres last made the postseason in 2020, but the games were held at a crowdless Globe Life Field in Texas because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Phillies vs Cardinals Game 2 starting lineups and pitching matchup

ST. LOUIS -- When choosing his starting rotation for the Wild Card Series, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol knew immediately that he wanted Miles Mikolas in position to start Game 2. His reasoning? Marmol is confident Mikolas has the right mentality to pitch in an elimination game. Phillies interim manager Rob Thomson had a similar line of thinking in slotting Aaron Nola into Game 2, with the righty coming off one of the best performances of his career to get the Phillies into the postseason. After Philadelphia rallied for six ninth-inning runs to take Game 1, 6-3, on Friday, the Phillies will be in close-out mode at Busch Stadium on Saturday. Philadelphia is in the postseason for the first time since dropping the National League Division Series in five games to the Cardinals in 2011. St...

Padres-Mets 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 FAQ

NEW YORK -- Sixty years after the Mets entered the National League as an expansion team, and 53 years after the Padres joined them, the clubs will meet in the postseason for the first time. They are teams with obvious similarities, including their dynamic rotations and back-end bullpen talent, but also a few notable differences. While the Mets stayed relatively quiet at the Trade Deadline, the Padres were the game’s most active team, making over their roster with the acquisitions of Juan Soto and Josh Hader. Ultimately, neither team could overcome the juggernauts within their own divisions -- for the Mets, the defending World Series-champion Braves; for the Padres, the 111-win Dodgers. But both clubs remain talented and dangerous in an October setting. “They’re a really good team,” Mets...
