Hit Amazon Prime TV series “The Peripheral,” based on William Gibson’s novel of the same name, depicts a grim planet Earth in the year 2099, when a much-reduced human population relies on artificially intelligent robot servants and virtual-reality headsets allow people to travel back in time. When Floria Foote first became a caregiver for her sister, she didn't anticipate just how much work she would eventually take on during her sister's decline. "It was so not like her," said Foote.
