Starved Rock explosion: Possible black powder blast near Utica’s Route 178 bridge kills 3 in LaSalle County

LASALLE COUNTY Ill. (WLS) — 3 individuals are dead after a surge along the Illinois River near Starved Rock State Park in LaSalle County Thursday night.

A number of firms, consisting of Utica, state and preservation cops, along with the Kane County Bomb Team and the FBI, reacted to the south and west location of Path 178 bridge around 7 p.m. after reports of a surge along the river bank.

When they showed up, they discovered 3 males dead due to injuries sustained from a blast, according to cops.
