St. Louis County responds to 200 car break-ins | St. Louis News Headlines

EARTH CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) — A rash of vehicle burglaries has officers in the St. Louis location on edge.

The St. Louis County Authorities Department stated officers discovered 50 vehicles with damaged windows and/or products taken from in the 13300 block of Lakefront Drive in Earth City on Nov. 4. The department stated an Amazon center in Fenton was likewise struck that night, with a minimum of 8 vehicles discovered with damaged windows and/or products taken from them.

“It’s an epidemic in St. Louis County we’ve never seen in 30 years of law enforcement. I have never seen the number of vehicle break-ins we’ve had in the last few months,” Councilman Tim Fitch stated.

The authorities department stated they have actually taken reports of almost 200 vehicle burglaries and 5 weapons taken from vehicles. Detectives stated the majority of the burglaries are occurring at 24-hour operating centers like UPS and Amazon.
