Squid Game creator confirms season 2 is currently in the ‘planning process’

Squid Video Game author and director Hwang Dong-hyuk validated today at a Los Angeles occasion honoring the program’s very first season that while he is presently in the preparation procedure for the 2nd season of the series, it’s still prematurely to state when the season will be produced.

“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!,” Hwang informed the Associated Press on Tuesday. “But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”

Along with this statement, Hwang validated that Seong Gi-hun, the lead character of the very first season of Squid Video Game played by Lee Jung-jae, would make a return in season 2 of the series. “I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back,” Hwang informed the Associated Press while standing next to Lee. “He will do something for the world.”

The Korean survival drama Squid Video Game premiered on Netflix back in September and rapidly ended up being the service’s most popular initial series, holding the top area on Netflix’s leading 10 most popular programs and motion pictures for 4 successive weeks. In reaction to the program’s rise in appeal, Netflix made 3 motion pictures directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk readily available to stream in the United States recently.
