Saturday Phoenix Xfinity race: Start time, weather, TV
Getting in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Hemric comes off his 8th profession runner-up surface in the series recently at Las Vegas.
Just NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett had more runner-up surfaces prior to his very first Xfinity win. Jarrett ended up second 10 times prior to lastly breaking through in Aug. 1986 at Orange County (N.C.) Speedway.
Among Hemric’s 8 runner-up surfaces came at Phoenix. While driving for Richard Childress Racing, he ended up second in the Nov. 2018 race to Christopher Bell.
Will Saturday lastly be Hemric’s day to win? He and JGR colleague Brandon Jones begin on the front row, with ruling series champ Austin Cindric and recently’s winner, AJ Allmendinger, behind them in Row 2.

PHASES: Phase 1 ends at Lap 45. Phase 2 ends at Lap 90.
TV/RADIO: FS1 will transmit the race at 5:30 p.m., with pre-race protection starting at 5 p.m. … Motor Racing Network’s radio protection starts at 5 p.m. and will stream at MRN.com; SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will bring the broadcast.
PROJECTION: The wunderground.com projection requires mainly cloudy skies and a high of 62 degrees with a one percent possibility of rain at race start.
IN 2015: Last March at Phoenix, Brandon Jones passed Kyle Busch for the lead with 20 laps to go and went on to win. In November’s season ending, Austin Cindric won in overtime to declare the Xfinity Series champion.
