Rapper Travis Scott says he is ‘devastated’ after Astroworld festival deaths

“I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night,” he tweeted Saturday. “My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.

“I am dedicated to interacting with the Houston neighborhood to recover and support the households in requirement. Thank you Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their instant reaction and assistance.”

At least eight people were killed and many others injured when a crowd surged toward the stage at the Astroworld Festival at NRG Park. About 50,000 people attended. The festival was created by the Houston-born rapper, who has a daughter with Kylie Jenner.

The crowd “for whatever factor started to press and rise towards the front of the phase, which triggered individuals in the front to be compressed,” Houston Fire Chief Sam Peña told CNN Saturday morning.

More than 300 individuals were dealt with at a field health center established near the celebration, Peña said.

Twenty-three individuals were required to medical facilities, and 8 of them passed away, Peña said. One client is ten years old, and at last check remained in vital condition, Peña told CNN Saturday early morning.

A few of the clients remained in heart attack as they were required to medical facilities, Peña said. Additional information about the injuries weren’t right away readily available. The causes of death will be identified by a medical inspector, he stated.
