Mixed Martial Arts-Boxer Shields victorious in MMA debut
(Reuters) – Unbeaten boxing world champ Claressa Shields endured a series of submission efforts in the very first 2 rounds of her combined martial arts launching prior to beating Brittney Elkin by TKO at the Specialist Battle League occasion in Atlantic City on Thursday.
The 26-year-old, who won boxing gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, lost the opening rounds to Elkin and entered into the 3rd and last five-minute frame understanding she needed to stop the knowledgeable jiu-jitsu brown belt.
