Mandy Patinkin shares emotional ‘Princess Bride’ backstory

The star shared a moving backstory about his function in the cult timeless movie “The Princess Bride” on his main TikTok account in action to a user sharing her own.

Amanda Webb published a video in which she shared that the motion picture was a favorite of hers and of her late dad, who passed away in March from cancer.

One scene in specific, the one in which Patinkin as Iñigo Montoya battles with Christopher Visitor’s character Count Rugen and states to him, “I want my father back.”

Webb stated she’d heard a report that Patinkin was thinking of his dad, whom he lost to cancer, when he recorded that scene and questioned if that held true.

Patinkin published a video of him and his better half Kathryn Grody seeing Webb’s video and he tearfully validated the tale held true.

“I went outside in this castle and walked around,” the star stated. “And I kept talking to my dad and I said, ‘Dad, I’m going to get this guy.'”

Patinkin stated that from the time he checked out the script that he understood he would approach the scene that method since he felt that in beating the character it “means I kill the cancer that killed my dad and I’ll get to visit my dad.”

“And I went and I played that scene with Chris,” he stated. “Then I went back out there and talked to my dad.”

The star informed Webb she too might talk with her papa and asked for that if she could, to please get the name of her dad to him so he might include it to the list of those individuals he wishes daily.
