Luke Bryan to miss first ‘American Idol’ live show due to Covid diagnosis

“I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @AmericanIdol show,” Bryan composed on social networks. “I tested positive for COVID but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”

ABC verified the news, including that previous “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul will be actioning in as a visitor judge along with judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry.

“Luke will be missed at our first #AmericanIdol LIVE show tonight, but he is resting now in quarantine at home and we’re wishing him a speedy recovery,” the network stated in a declaration published to Instagram.

Abdul looked like a judge on “American Idol” for 10 seasons throughout the program’s years airing on the FOX network. Her return marks the very first time she will evaluate on the series because its relocate to ABC.

“American Idol” airs Monday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
