Lions fall downstate

ADRIAN — The Finlandia University men’s hockey team (1-9 NCHA, 2-13-1) lost 7-1 to #3 Adrian (8-2 NCHA, 14-2-1), Saturday afternoon at Arrington Arena.

For the first 11 minutes, Adrian and Finlandia battled on even terms. The Bulldogs scored four goals in a two-minute span to seal the game.

Senior Phil Schader scored in the third period and led FinnU with three blocked shots. Sophomore Dakota Meyer finished with 45 saves.

Finlandia squares up with Bulldogs

ADRIAN — The Lions lost 6-0 to the Bulldogs, Friday night at Arrington Arena.

For the first 40 minutes, Finlandia and Adrian slugged it out. At the 3:34 mark, junior Kevin Bostwick fired a shot that was saved at the last moment.

With 2:57 left in the opening period, the Bulldogs snuck one in for the 1-0 lead. The Lions had two strong scoring chances in the second period that were stopped by great plays. Adrian pulled away in the third period.

The Lions were very active on defense blocking 17 shots, led by sophomore Alex Walsh (five) and freshman Connor Nagy (four). Sophomore Nick Solema had 11 faceoff wins. Meyer finished with 54 saves.

Up next

Finlandia returns home, Friday, Jan. 20, playing Lawrence. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
