Lake Jackson mom Phyllis Pena tackles man accused of peeking through daughter’s window
Phyllis Pena informed Eyewitness News her impulse started when she sacked 19-year-old Zane Hawkins Sunday early morning.
“It was just natural instinct, for whatever reason, to make sure he doesn’t make it past me,” she stated.
Pena stated she captured Hawkins looking through her child’s window when she got house that early morning. When she challenged him, he removed. That’s when she called authorities.
Pena stated 2 officers attempted taking Hawkins into custody. When they missed him, she stated that’s when Hawkins began running towards her.
“I jumped in front of him and just tackled him,” she stated.
Pena stated she does not understand where she discovered how to deal with like that.
“It just came naturally, which was really weird,” she stated.
Pena informed ABC13 she feels relieved understanding her child is safe.
“You just want your kids to feel safe,” she stated. “In a situation like that, your kids don’t feel safe.”
