As an adult you have a lot to learn about how to be happy. You are not going to be able to find happiness in yourself all the time. That is why the best way to avoid sadness is to learn how to be happy. If you never learn how to be happy, then you will always feel sad.
There are a lot of different ways to learn how to be happy. One way is to do some self-reflection and ask yourself if you are happy with your life or not.
Are you living your life to the fullest? Are you making the most of your life? Have you achieved all you want? If you can say no to these questions, then you are living an unhappy life.
Be honest. When you are honest with yourself, you are honest with other people as well. We all look for confirmation from people around us. If you think that you are miserable, then others will likely feel the same way. Instead of feeling miserable, try saying ‘I’m really not sure.’
It might seem silly, but you might be surprised at how your friends and family will respond. Instead of saying they are miserable, try to say they are confused or upset. Then you will show them you are happy to be here with them.
Think about the things that make you happy. When you think about happy things you will feel happy too. Ask yourself if you are able to laugh about something. It could be something simple like the time that your dog slept on your pillow.
Always remember that a lot of people hate life. They hate having a job that never seems to end. They hate taking care of children that run out of patience after a minute. But what they do not realize is that they are also unhappy because they are living life without happiness.
Looking for happiness in yourself is the first step to looking for happiness in other people. When you become happier, the people around you will also feel happier. There is nothing worse than feeling miserable and angry.
Happiness comes from within us. Don’t settle for the problems in your life. Accept that you will probably have problems. Just keep working through them and the day will come when you will be happy.
By accepting the things that are bothering you, you are also accepting the things that are causing you happiness. Once you have accepted them, the moment they happen you will feel happy. For example, if you have a problem that you have been wishing would go away forever, but now that it is a few months old, you might start having a little resentment.
