Fond du Lac homeowners looking for Army veteran

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) – A Fond du Lac house owner is on the hunt to discover an Army veteran. The search started after the male and his sweetheart discovered a decades-old piece of military souvenirs in their house.

Shane Gomez and his sweetheart just recently purchased your home at 357 Sherman Street in Fond du Lac.

The couple invests their downtime dealing with house remodelling tasks, and while they were dealing with the upstairs part of your home this previous weekend, they found a little piece of history.

“My girlfriend, she was messing with the cabinets down there, and I guess no one had ever really bothered to look down there and we found that, we found an old record,” stated Gomez.

Tucked below the bottom drawer of an integrated hall cabinet was a military certificate that was released to James C. Bostwick on October 1, 1959.

The Respectable Discharge Certificate states he employed in the Army in September of 1951, and got in the reserves less than 2 years later on.

“My late grandpa, he was a veteran back then. I figured, it kind of spoke to me. I’m sure somebody’s grandpa was James Bostwick and maybe they would like to have it as a token, memento, some kind of heirloom of sorts,” states Gomez.

He published about the certificate on a Fond du Lac neighborhood Facebook page, wanting to discover somebody who understands this soldier, including, “It will be pretty surprising. I saw a lot of Bostwicks tagging each other and the name, in the comments, so if I manage to find who it belongs to, that will be impressive.”

Up Until then, he’ll simply keep the certificate for safe keeping and perhaps do a little research study on its recipient after he ends up the house tasks.
