Entertainment venues, houses of worship now required to have mass-shooting response plans in New Jersey

Your next trip to a sporting event, concert or even a house of worship in New Jersey will likely be safer than the last one.

Gov. Phil Murphy has signed a new law requiring larger-sized venues across the state to submit emergency plans to law enforcement agencies for things like possible mass shootings.

The bill is not only designed to improve security, but to increase coordination with local law enforcement.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said in a written statement regarding the measure that “Our response to gun violence must remain proactive, not reactive.”
