Driver rescued after vehicle plunges into lake in New Orleans

A motorist was saved Thursday night from Lake Pontchartrain after he lost control and plunged into the lake, according to the Orleans Levee District. Orleans Levee District law enforcement officer saved an 18-year old from the lake following the mishap. The mishap took place around 7 p.m. when an officer saw the cars and truck taking a trip at a high rate of speed northbound on Franklin Ave. The officer stated the lorry went through the crossway of Franklin Ave and Lakeshore Drive, struck the concrete barrier and indications, triggering the cars and truck to go air-borne into the lake. The officer got his floatation gadget and tossed it to the victim who was pulled ashore by the officer and another witness close by, according to cops. The victim was dealt with at the scene by EMS and required to a location health center for additional assessment. The 18-year-old motorist informed Orleans Levee District cops that his brake light began as he approached the crossway and the breakdown triggered him to lose control of the lorry. The motorist was mentioned for reckless operation and the lorry is still immersed at this time, according to cops.
