De La Hoya set to come out of retirement in July
(Reuters) – Oscar De La Hoya on Friday stated he is coming out of retirement to eliminate on July 3 versus a yet-to-be-named challenger in what will be the 48-year-old’s very first bout because 2008.
De La Hoya wishes to handle Floyd Mayweather, Yahoo Sports reported, which is not a surprise offered the substantial cash their 2007 bout created for both camps.
“July 3rd, I’m making my comeback,” De La Hoya stated throughout a Triller Battle Club occasion together with rap artist Snoop Dogg.
The American’s go back to the ring follows former-heavyweight champ Mike Tyson in 2015 fought Roy Jones Jr. in an interesting charity exhibit bout that was ruled a draw.
Mayweather is anticipated to handle YouTube character Logan Paul in a delayed exhibit bout at some point later on this year.
De La Hoya’s last expert battle was a loss to Manny Pacquiao in 2008.
