DC’s reimagined Static Shock gives the hero a slick new look
Last August, DC Comics revealed the return of Turning point universe, the comics house to precious characters like Fixed and Hardware. An extension of Turning point Media, the business established by Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle, and the late Dwayne McDuffie to resolve the underrepresentation of racial minorities in superhero comics, the Turning point characters ultimately went into the core DC universe in 2008. Today Cowan and writer-filmmaker Reggie Hudlin have actually come together to relaunch the brand name — and DC has actually lastly exposed the very first wave of comics.
The new Milestone era kicks off Feb. 26 with a digital-very first “extended cut” of the Turning point Returns #0 one-shot, previously exclusive to the DC FanDome event. Turning Point Returns: Infinite Edition #0 includes 24 pages to the book, composed by Hudlin and drawn by artists Cowan, Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Expense Sienkiewicz, and other artists. The book rewords the history of “The Big Bang,” an anti-police cruelty demonstration that let loose an unexpected wave of superpowers in the imaginary city of Dakota.
In April, DC will introduce Fixed, following a freshly created variation of Virgil Hawkins (principle art above). Here’s the main summary:
In this month-to-month miniseries (20 pages per problem), bullied geek Virgil is talented with unbelievable electro-magnetic powers in the wake of the Big Bang. Now he discovers himself captured in between an over-militarized cops action to Black kids getting unique capabilities and a few of those kids who are utilizing those powers in unsafe and harmful methods. However when the bullies who intimidated him prior to the Big Bang appear with powers of their own, can Fixed be the hero that Dakota requires?
This summertime, DC will introduce 2 more digital-first series: Icon & Rocket on June 21, and Hardware, from Cowan and Sienkiewicz, on Aug. 23. All the books will be totally free to continue reading DC Universe upon release.
“Introducing these ‘seasons’ of Static, Icon, Rocket, and Hardware is just the beginning,” Hudlin stated in a declaration. “There will be more stories with these favorite characters to come, and fans will see appearances from the legendary Blood Syndicate, setting the stage for an explosive Milestone event later in the year.”
