An exclusive preview of Critical Role’s Jester Lavorre Dark Horse comic

The very first volume in Dark Horse’s brand-new Crucial Function: The Mighty Nein Origins series of graphic books commemorates Laura Bailey’s naughty tiefling, Jester Lavorre. Polygon is thrilled to be able to share an early sneak peek of the ended up book.

Jester, developed and carried out by Laura Bailey, is a precious member of a group of travelers called The Mighty Nein. This 56-page book dives into her origin story, and includes her very first conference with the Tourist — the quasi-deity of hoax and delight that functions as her client and the source of her wonderful power.

For the inexperienced, Crucial Function is a long-running series of real play efficiencies of Dungeons & Dragons now starting its 3rd complete project. The group (consisting of voice stars Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham) now has its own publishing business, Darrington Press, that develops both parlor game and tabletop role-playing items. An Amazon Prime Streaming animated series based upon their experiences premieres Feb. 4.

Crucial Function: The Mighty Nein Origins – Jester Lavorre is composed by Sam Maggs (Captain Marvel, The Unstoppable Wasp) while Hunter Severn Bonyun manages the art. Both creatives operated in show with Bailey to assist bring this never-before-seen side of Jester to life. You can get the end product Nov. 3 at your regional comic store and online.
