15-year-old saves family during structure fire

DULUTH, MN– A fifteen-year-old lady is being hailed a hero after conserving her household’s lives throughout a structure fire Tuesday early morning.

According to a news release, Duluth Fire was dispatched to a house on East 10th Street right before 1 a.m.

Fire teams reported heavy fire originating from a 2nd story window.

Teams worked to snuff out the fire and browse the house for any residents, consisting of 2 felines.

4 grownups and 4 kids were all house at the time however handled to leave.

The felines most likely got away, too since they were not situated.

“Thanks to the quick thinking of a fifteen-year-old who alerted her family to the fire, they were all able to get out of the home safely,” stated Assistant Chief Dennis Edwards. “If she hadn’t woken up, and notified her parents this could have been a different situation. She was very brave.”

One adult suffered burns to his hand while attempting to snuff out the fire prior to leaving. He was dealt with at a regional health center and launched.

Damage is approximated at $75,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.

The Red Cross is helping the household displaced by the fire.

The fire is thought to be unexpected and electrical in nature.
