Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:

  1. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is hosting its annual Mental Health Awareness Fair on Saturday, May 27 at Alexander Park. Mental health professionals will be on-site at the second annual fair to educate and raise awareness on mental health issues. (Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office via Facebook)
  2. A teenager has been arrested in connection to a shooting near South Gwinnett County High School. Snellville police said they were called to Eastgate Place just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday last week to an 18-year-old boy that had been shot in the leg during a drug deal. The suspect, who ran off into the woods, has now been arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The suspect’s name and age have not been released. (WSBTV)
  3. Deputy County Attorney Tuwanda Rush Williams has announced she is running for an open Superior Court judge’s seat in 2024. The seat is currently held by Gwinnett Superior Court Judge Karen Beyers, who is not seeking re-election. Williams will step down from her position with the county on May 17 to run for the office.
